Tami has been a part of the Toptoe family since its beginning; first as a young dancer, then as a choreographer and dance instructor over 35 years. Her past dance works have won numerous awards and she boast a dynasty, receiving national choreography awards in three consecutive years. Tami is currently
the manger and one of Toptoe’s professional pointe shoe fitters and specialist.
Her professional training was with the Southeast Contemporary Dance Company (1981-1996) where she studied the Martha Graham Method and the Cecchetti Method taking master classes with Gregory Hines, Gus Giordano, Joe Tramaine, Buster Cooper, Earl LaMartiniere and many others. Tami also continued her
Dance/Vocal studies at Southeastern Louisiana University under the direction of Dr. Martie Fellom.
Tami was involved with the Show Choir movement since 1984 choreographing and adjudicating groups in Louisiana, Alabama, Mississippi, Florida, Tennessee, New York and Indiana. She was instrumental in developing the Tara Invitational Show Choir Festival and spent 12 years as the resident choreographer of
the award-winning Lee High School Rebellier Show Choir.
She has always given back to her Baton Rouge dance community by teaching dancers in the EBR extended day programs, Baton Rouge Center for the Visual and Performing Art, Dance Inc., America’s Pride the I Care Ambassadors, and Jete’ Dance Company.
Tami has be quoted as saying “God as always humbled me throughout my dance career but now, I have the divine privilege to sit at the feet of dancers and prepare them to do what they love, it’s their journey now”
